Brief: Produce a brand identity and a series of illustrations to accompany a research project which was a collaboration between the University of the West of England (UWE) and the Digital Cultures Research Centre (DCRC). The exhibition was titled, ‘Visualising Love - Family Migration, Separation and Communication’. The exhibition shared the outcomes of a study exploring the impacts of ‘hostile’ UK family immigration policies, and rules on relationships between British and non-EU partners and families.
Solution: I wanted the branding and accompanying pictorial illustrations to look as if they were drawn in chalk by children on a wall. Highlighting the effects immigration policies have on young people, I thought the best way to communicate this was depicting the illustrations from a child's point of view in an attempt to emotionally engage the viewer.
