Squirrel is a 16mm short film character study on the signwriter and opera singer Cyril ‘The Squirrel’ Nicholas based in St Just, Cornwall. It documents the lifelong devotion and pursuit of an individual who has dedicated their career to the dying art of signwriting and a passion for Italian opera. The film attempts to capture a unique craft and tradition servicing the local community in an environment where its utility is becoming increasingly obsolete.
The cinematography was operated by Oliver Nixon and Julius Thieroff. The original music for the film was performed by Richard C. Nicholas, aka Squirrel and mastered by Optimum Mastering.
